AMK9 Fundraiser Provides New Home for Retired Working Dog

Lake Mary, FL /USA – 24 May, 2012

For American K-9 Detection Services, LLC’s (AMK9) corporate headquarters staff, St. Patrick’s Day was more than just a day to wear green, it was also a day to eat green pancakes to raise funds to support Military Working Dog (MWD) Adoptions. AMK9 agreed to match proceeds raised through the breakfast with funds being donated to MWD Adoptions.

In early February, AMK9 established a professional relationship with MWD Adoptions resulting in a new streamlined process for the adoption of AMK9 working dogs.  MWD Adoptions is a not–for-profit organization that finds, screens, and coordinates “Forever Homes” for retiring Military Working Dogs and Contract Working Dogs of AMK9.  In addition to location and coordination efforts, MWD Adoptions also provides transportation and medical expenses for retiring working dogs, when necessary.

Soon after the AMK9 St. Patrick’s Day breakfast fundraiser, Ms. Debbie Kandoll of MWD Adoptions contacted AMK9 to inform us of the perfect timing of the donation.  Ms. Kandoll explained, “I received your very generous donation, and I want to let you know what it is being used for. AMK9 (Contract Working Dog) CWD Alan is being adopted by some really great folks. The Only thing was that at the last minute, their daughter sprang Summer semester on them to the tune of $6,000 ! CWD Alan’s new “mom”-to-be was heartbroken… but because of the donation you all contributed…we will be able to pay for Alan’s transport home!”

AMK9 was delighted to learn about the successful match of retired CWD Alan with his new family and how their funds raised at AMK9’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast helped make it possible.  AMK9 fully supports the efforts of MWD Adoptions and together shares the belief that our retired working dogs merit the comfort, respect, and provision of a loving home.
