AMK9 PEDD Teams Honored by U.S. Secretary of Defense

Lake Mary, FL/USA – 2 May 2012

On March 14, 2012 the United States (U.S.) Secretary of Defense, the Honorable Leon Panetta, made an unannounced visit to Afghanistan to speak with soldiers at a camp in the southern province. American K-9 Detection Services, LLC (AMK9) was proud to be selected by the Regional Security Office to provide a Personal Security Detail (PSD) Mission in preparation for and during the arrival of the Secretary of Defense.

AMK9 Patrol Explosive Detection Dog (PEDD) Teams were tasked with conducting explosives sweeps for all areas the Secretary of Defense would be visiting. Additionally, AMK9 PEDD Teams were assigned to accompany the Secretary of Defense’s motorcade and run explosive detection sweeps for any locale the Secretary of Defense stopped on his way to his scheduled speaking event. The site of the speech marked another location AMK9 PEDD Teams were selected to screen prior to the arrival of the Secretary of Defense.

Before departing Afghanistan, the Secretary of Defense recognized the AMK9 PEDD Teams for their exemplary performance and dedication to their mission which reinforced the personal safety of the Secretary of Defense and his staff throughout their time in the region. AMK9 was extremely honored to welcome the Secretary of Defense to Afghanistan and to provide this critical service and level of protection needed to ensure the safety of him and his staff.
