Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) Teams are also sometimes referred to as bomb dogs or bomb sniffing dogs. Because AMK9 is licensed by the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF&E) agency, our canines have the ability to train on actual explosives and thereby increase their sensitivity and responsiveness. AMK9 EDD Teams are particularly effective as they are able to locate explosives in unlimited forms and quantities. Our EDD’s have even proven the ability to locate explosive residue and residual odor left by explosive materials. Since 2005, AMK9 EDD’s have discovered hundreds of IED’s and other explosive compounds, saving countless lives around the globe.
Narcotic Detection Dog (NDD) Teams are also known as drug dogs or drug sniffing dogs. NDD Teams are expertly trained to locate illicit narcotics. Because AMK9 is licensed by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to train on actual narcotics, our NDDs are able to find even trace amounts of expertly hidden narcotics or narcotic residue. NDD Teams are typically used by law enforcement officials to search vehicles, cargo, luggage, clothing, and/or any location suspected of containing illegal substances.
Human Remains Detection (HRD) Dog Teams are also referred to as cadaver dogs. These Dog Teams are specially trained to assist in the location of missing persons or critical forensic evidence. HRD dogs have the unique ability to detect not only human remains but items contaminated by any forensic evidence, under the ground or even underwater.
A Special Purpose Dog Team is a canine and handler that have been trained to detect specific items beyond explosives or narcotics. Other categories commonly trained for are:
• cell phones (in prisons);
• currency;
• weapons;
• illicit contraband;
• cargo;
• bed bugs; and
• mold.
A Single Purpose K-9 is trained to detect one category of odor, whether that be all the components that make up explosives, various narcotics, cell phones, molds, human DNA, etc. AMK9 does not cross train our canines, which means we do not train a single purpose explosive detection dog on any other category of odor.
A Dual Purpose K-9 is trained on detection of odor and on patrol work. A patrol K-9 is specifically taught to catch an assailant, but only on command. AMK9 Patrol and Dual Purpose dogs are trained to stop immediately on command, in mid-chase, if necessary.
AMK9 is proud to offer the pre-eminent K-9 utilization and integration training and management program. This program is custom tailored and designed specifically for security organizations and agencies that would like to incorporate a K-9 detection component into their existing structure. Based on our tried and true methods for operational expertise, we provide the guidance necessary to effectively incorporate K-9 detection and maximize security potential. Beyond the initial integration process, AMK9 will draw on our successful background in program management to help you build and sustain your security program.
