EXPLOSIVES DETECTION

Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) Teams are also sometimes referred to as bomb dogs or bomb sniffing dogs. AMK9 EDD Teams are expertly trained to locate explosives and even explosive residue. These EDD Teams are particularly effective as they are able to locate mere grams of explosives easily missed by humans or man-made devices, and large quantities of explosives intended for harm.

NARCOTICS DETECTION


Narcotic Detection Dog (NDD) Teams are also known as drug dogs or drug sniffing dogs. NDD Teams are trained exclusively to locate illicit narcotics. Because they are trained to find even trace amounts of expertly hidden narcotics or narcotic residue, EDD Teams are typically used by law enforcement officials to search vehicles, cargo, luggage, clothing, and/or any location suspected of containing illegal substances.

PATROL


Patrol K-9′s are typically used for guard work as they are both effective physical deterrents and are trained to apprehend an assailant on command. Conversely, because of their powerful nature, patrol K-9s are also taught to stop immediately, on command. Patrol K-9s are commonly trained as dual-purpose dogs, meaning they are specialized in two roles such as patrol and detection of either explosives or narcotics (or any other category of detection work).

SPECIAL PURPOSE


A Special Purpose K-9 Team is a canine and handler that have been trained to detect specific items beyond explosives or narcotics. Other categories commonly trained for are:
