MILITARY

AMK9 Contract Working Dog (CWD) Teams have been keeping troops safe in Afghanistan and Iraq since 2004. AMK9 is proud to have proven, mission-oriented experience, providing direct counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED) support for multiple Special Forces teams including U.S., Canadian, British, Dutch, German and Czech Republic units. Additionally, AMK9 Teams have served as an explosives detection security reinforcement for troops across the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF).This unparalleled experience has been critical in allowing AMK9 CWD Teams to expertly navigate the high threat environment of the Middle East, routinely providing entry control point security, vehicle sweeps, internal searches, and perimeter and roving patrols.  AMK9 CWD Team’s proven performance has helped improve combat effectiveness and overall reduce IED related casualties by over forty percent (40%) (at times when AMK9 CWD teams have been present). In addition, AMK9 CWD Team searches have led to countless discoveries of explosives, weapons caches, and narcotics, subsequently resulting in the arrest of criminals and terrorists throughout the Middle East. Results like these define and reinforce AMK9’s commitment to always provide the highest quality canine detection services and uphold the highest safety standards in the industry.

AMK9 proudly supports our Military in the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Enduring Freedom. It is an honor to continue providing our troops the following K-9 Services.

EXPLOSIVES DETECTION

Explosive Detection Dog (EDD) Teams are also sometimes referred to as bomb dogs or bomb sniffing dogs. AMK9 EDD Teams are expertly trained to locate explosives and even explosive residue. These EDD Teams are particularly effective as they are able to locate mere grams of explosives easily missed by humans or man-made devices, and large quantities of explosives intended for harm.

NARCOTICS DETECTION

Narcotic Detection Dog (NDD) Teams are also known as drug dogs or drug sniffing dogs. NDD Teams are trained exclusively to locate illicit narcotics. Because they are trained to find even trace amounts of expertly hidden narcotics or narcotic residue, EDD Teams are typically used by law enforcement officials to search vehicles, cargo, luggage, clothing, and/or any location suspected of containing illegal substances.

HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION

Human Remains Detection (HRD) Dog Teams, are also referred to as cadaver dogs. These Dog Teams are specially trained to assist in the location of missing persons or crucial forensic evidence. HRD Dogs have the unique ability to detect not only human remains but items contaminated by any forensic evidence, above or below ground or water.

DUAL & SINGLE PURPOSE

A Single Purpose K-9 is trained to detect one category of odor, whether that be all the components that make up explosives, various narcotics, cell phones, molds, human DNA, etc. AMK9 does not cross train our canines, which means we do not train a single purpose explosive detection dog on any other category of odor.

A Dual Purpose K-9 is trained on detection of odor and on patrol work. A patrol K-9 is specifically taught to catch an assailant, but only on command. AMK9 Patrol and Dual Purpose dogs are trained to stop immediately on command, in mid-chase, if necessary.

MINE DETECTION

Mine Detection Dog (MDD) Teams are a vital element in locating mines and unexploded ordinance (UXOs) that have either been accidently or purposefully buried, and still pose a risk if disturbed. According to the International Mine Action Authority, governed by the United Nations, landmines and explosive remnants of war affect at least 78 countries and injure or kill between 15,000 and 20,000 people annually.
